LAST CALL for ISC Education Abroad proposals

The deadline for new or renewed ISC Education-Abroad proposals is Monday, October 28 at 5:00 PM.

The ISC reviews proposals twice per year with deadlines of approximately Oct 28 and April 1.

Please contact your ISC representative (see attachment) if you have questions or would like guidance on your proposal.

Finding Meaning and Hope in the Ambiguous Loss of Retrenchment

Please join the SCSU Faculty Association (FA) and the SCSU Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) on Wednesday, October 2nd from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM for a Zoom workshop on Finding Meaning and Hope in the Ambiguous Loss of Retrenchment by Dr. Pauline Boss. The format will be a presentation followed by a question and answer period, and anyone in the SCSU community is encouraged to attend.

The workshop will center around her book The Myth of Closure: Ambiguous Loss in a Time of Pandemic and Change, and a limited number of copies are available by contacting CETL@stcloudstate.edu. We will stock additional copies in the CETL lending library in 225 Stewart Hall after the event.

A limited number of copies of Dr Boss’ original book, Ambiguous Loss (2000) are available through the Faculty Association. Please contact facassoc@stcloudstate.edu if you would like to request a copy.

Book and conversation groups will be available after the event. Please indicate your interest by responding to the registration questions.

Pauline Boss, PhD, Professor Emeritus at the University of Minnesota is a Fellow in the American Psychological Association and the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and a former president of the National Council on Family Relations. She practiced family therapy for over 40 years. With her groundbreaking work in research and practice, Dr. Boss coined the term ambiguous loss in the 1970s and since then, developed and tested the theory of ambiguous loss, a guide for working with families of the missing, physically or psychologically. Her most recent book is The Myth of Closure: Ambiguous Loss in a Time of Pandemic and Change (W. W. Norton, 2022). GET OUT THE VOTE

Governor Walz is launching his Get Out the Vote tour of Minnesota this Friday, November 4, at 8:15am from the Minnesota State Capitol Steps. We are inviting as many SCSU FA members to show up and show our support for this GOTV effort. Wear/bring your IFO gear (t-shirts, pins, signs, etc.) The rally will be short, concluding on or before 9:15am. If you're available, please let us know you are attending. If you need IFO gear, please let us know that as well. Just hit "reply" and let us know you're coming. We hope to see you there!
